Ignore Circulating Funeral Dates of Apostle Kwadwo Safo, Says Family Head

Accra: Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, Head of the Kantanka Family and Leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana, has urged members of the Kristo Asafo Church and the general public to disregard any announced date for the burial of his father, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka. Addressing the media at a press conference on July 27, 2026, he insisted that neither the Kantanka family nor the leadership of the church has approved any date for the funeral of the late founder.

According to Ghana Web, Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena emphasized that key members of the Kantanka family, the church's Council of Elders, and regional council chairmen were all present at the press conference, underscoring their collective position on the matter. He stated, "I urge the members of Kristo Asafo and the general public to disregard any date to hold our father's burial. The Asante Kotoko family that are all seated here, none of us have brought any date out."

"My uncles are here. Behind me, the Council of Elders from the church, the body which has the mandate to appoint the next leader, are also here. The regional council chairmen are all here," he said, highlighting the unified stance of the family and church leadership.

Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena maintained that, in his capacity as Head of the Kantanka Family and Leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission, no burial has been sanctioned for the end of July. "I stand on my authority as the Kantanka family head and the leader of Kristo Asafo to say you should ignore any date fixed for Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka's funeral. There will be no burial on the 30th of this July," he declared.

Akofena Kwadwo Safo, son of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo, reiterated his plea for members of the Kristo Asafo Church and the general public to disregard reports suggesting that his father's funeral will be held on July 30.
