Accra: The International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Royal Temple, Awoshie-Anyah, contributed food and essential items valued at over GH?50,000 to the Akropong School for the Blind as part of its anniversary celebration.
According to Ghana News Agency, the donations comprised bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, soft drinks, sachet water, toilet rolls, paper hand towels, sanitary pads, liquid soap, washing powder, bars of soap, tomato paste, and tom brown. Reverend Samuel Awuku-Gyekye, Senior Pastor of the Royal Temple and Regional Overseer for Accra West, highlighted the challenges of running schools for persons with disabilities, especially when resources are scarce. He emphasized the need for ongoing support from churches, organizations, and individuals to ensure the smooth operation and welfare of students at institutions like the Akropong School for the Blind.
Reverend Awuku-Gyekye explained that the Royal Temple opted to celebrate its anniversary with acts of compassion, demonstrating the church's commitment to a holistic ministry that combines preaching the gospel with tangible expressions of Christ's love. He noted that the church remains dedicated to impacting the community, fostering spiritual growth, and initiating meaningful outreach activities. Reflecting on past events, he recalled that during the church's 25th anniversary, similar donations were made to the same school to aid its operations.
He concluded by stating that the 28th anniversary celebration serves as both a milestone of gratitude to God and a demonstration of compassion to society and the nation.
