Business mogul Ibrahim Mahama has stepped forward to assist Emmanuel Asamoah, a Ghanaian who recently returned from South Africa after reportedly experiencing xenophobic attacks. Mahama has offered to establish a cement distribution and construction hardware depot for Asamoah, providing him with a new start in his home country.
According to Ghana Web, this intervention follows Ibrahim Mahama's assurance to Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs of his commitment to supporting Ghanaians affected by xenophobia in South Africa. During a meeting attended by Ghana's High Commissioner to South Africa, Mahama appealed to Ghanaians living in South Africa to consider returning home and contributing to national development.
He emphasized that his company is ready to offer employment opportunities to returnees based on their skills and experience. Mahama also encouraged Ghanaians facing hardship abroad to return to Ghana to start businesses or learn vocational trades, pledging his support to help them rebuild their lives.
In a significant gesture, Ibrahim Mahama presented Emmanuel Asamoah with GHS200,000 to enable him to reunite with his family for a month before relocating to Accra to commence operations. Asamoah, who left behind his nail and hairdressing enterprise in South Africa, chose to venture into the hardware business.
Mahama commended Ghana's High Commissioner to South Africa for his dedication to the welfare of Ghanaians living in the country. He also advised Asamoah to remain strong, disciplined, and focused as he starts this new chapter in his life and business journey.
