Accra: Founder of the International God's Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has expressed concern over the group of friends his wife, Florence Obinim, currently associates with, stating that their influence leaves him feeling uneasy and threatened. Addressing his congregation on Thursday, June 11, 2026, the preacher said Florence's current social circle is not one he is comfortable with, adding that it has placed him in a difficult position.
According to Ghana Web, Obinim described his wife as previously reserved and preferring to keep a small circle of friends. However, he claimed that her recent associations have caused him anxiety, particularly because he fears being blamed if anything unfortunate were to happen to her. He conveyed his apprehensions by saying, 'My wife, Florence Obinim's current circle of friends is not the best. I'm scared now and currently feel threatened. My wife was an introvert who didn't like having too many friends but now she has this team around her. Should the slightest thing happen to my wife, they will say I am the cause.'
Emphasising the seriousness of his concerns, Obinim added, 'I will stay back.' The comments come days after Bishop Obinim publicly outlined his wishes regarding his funeral arrangements. Speaking before his congregation, he stated that only his children and members of his church should be responsible for organising his funeral should he pass away. He further indicated that his wife should not play any role in planning his burial.
Explaining his position, Obinim said his decision was influenced by events that unfolded following the deaths of some prominent Ghanaian figures, including Daddy Lumba. He also used the occasion to speak about challenges within his marriage to Florence Obinim. Responding in a subsequent interview, Florence Obinim said she was not surprised by her husband's remarks. Instead, she expressed gratitude that he had made his views known while he was still alive.
