Accra: Broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah has launched a scathing attack on Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, describing him as the worst person to have led the country's football governing body. Speaking on the current state of Ghana football on Starr FM, Nana Aba revealed that she had once believed Kurt Okraku was the ideal person to transform the game due to the passion and competence he displayed before becoming GFA president.
According to Ghana Web, Nana Aba expressed her previous confidence in Okraku's potential, citing his handling of the FA Cup as evidence of his passion and commitment. She recounted how she had advocated for his presidency even during Kwesi Nyantakyi's tenure, believing Okraku to be the best candidate to lead the FA.
However, her faith in the football administrator has diminished significantly. Nana Aba expressed her profound disappointment, speculating that something about the environment or culture within the GFA might be affecting Okraku's leadership. "I am so disappointed. I don't know if there is something they breathe in that building or the water they drink. I think there is some spirit in that building that completely changes you because this is not the Kurt I knew," she lamented.
Nana Aba criticized Okraku for not addressing the ongoing challenges in Ghana football, which she feels have only worsened under his leadership. "The Kurt I knew would have fixed the problem, but we're not fixing the problem. It's getting worse every day," she noted.
She also took aim at the individuals surrounding the GFA president, accusing them of failing to bring about the improvements they once advocated for. "He's managed to surround himself with people who sat on radio and criticised football people, criticised the FA and everything that was wrong with our football. And it's actually worse. It's a big shame on them. I don't know how they wake up in the morning and still smile," she added.
