Jasikan: Most Reverend Moise Messan Touho, the Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Atakpam© in Togo, has emphasized the importance of humility and godly fear in the leadership of Most Rev. Simon Kofi Appiah, the newly ordained Bishop of the Jasikan Catholic Diocese. Bishop Touho highlighted these virtues as foundational for a successful episcopal ministry during an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) following the ordination ceremony in Jasikan, located in the Oti Region.
According to Ghana News Agency, Bishop Touho stressed that these qualities are crucial for effective spiritual leadership and service to the Church. He praised Bishop Appiah for his maturity and pastoral experience, which he believes make him a distinguished and capable shepherd. Bishop Touho expressed confidence in Bishop Appiah's ability to guide both clergy and lay faithful in his diocese, stating, "His track record speaks for itself. I have no doubt that he will live up to expectations and serve diligently."
Bishop Touho, who was appointed by Pope Francis on October 26, 2022, and later ordained as Bishop of the Atakpam© Diocese, urged Bishop Appiah to remain steadfast in faith and committed to his mission. He also encouraged him to justify the confidence placed in him by Pope Leo XIV, who appointed him to his new position.
Furthermore, Bishop Touho called on the clergy and laity of the Jasikan Diocese to offer their full support and cooperation to Bishop Appiah, ensuring unity and progress within the Church. The ordination ceremony, which attracted clergy, religious leaders, and congregants from across the region and beyond, marked a significant milestone in the growth of the Catholic Church in the Oti Region.
