Hohoe: The Hohoe Municipal Assembly in the Volta Region has directed the Police Command to enforce a ban on the commercial use of 'Pragya' vehicles within the municipality. Pragyas, also known as 'Mahama Can Do' or 'Keke', are three-wheeled motorized vehicles commonly used for commercial transport.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Hohoe Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Wisdom Kporngor, issued a letter to the police indicating that the General Assembly has decided to maintain the ban on these vehicles. The decision was reaffirmed during the First Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Ninth Assembly held on May 14, 2026, which recalled an earlier decision from September 27, 2023, to prohibit the commercial operation of 'Pragya' in the municipality.
Mr. Kporngor noted that the ban would remain in effect until a formal motion is passed by the Assembly to amend or repeal the decision. He urged the police to take necessary measures to ensure the ban's effective enforcement and directed all relevant officers to assist in ensuring compliance with the Assembly's decision.
The cooperation of the police in enforcing this directive is seen as a crucial step in supporting the Assembly's efforts to maintain order, safety, and effective regulation of transport operations in the municipality. Mr. Kporngor also expressed the management's commitment to fully supporting the enforcement of the directive.
