Dr. Delanyo Tsidi Dovlo, Chair of the Governing Board, underscored the media's crucial role in shaping public confidence in healthcare and serving as a bridge between health institutions and the communities.
Dr. Dovlo highlighted the Hospital's progress in delivering specialist healthcare, training health professionals, and advancing research. He emphasized investments in modern medical equipment, infrastructure, and skilled personnel, which have strengthened clinical services and expanded access to quality healthcare. The Hospital's Laboratory Services achieved a Four-Star SafeCare Rating and completed the ISO 15189 pre-assessment, aiming for international accreditation.
Efforts to enhance patient care include quality improvement initiatives, infection prevention systems, digital health innovations, and patient safety measures as part of the goal to attain Joint Commission International (JCI) Accreditation by 2027. Dr. Dovlo also highlighted the establishment of the Hospital's Music Therapy Studio, the first in West Africa, under its wellness and medical tourism agenda, attracting clients from both local and international fronts.
The expansion of the Hospital's infrastructure is an urgent strategic priority due to the increasing demand for specialist healthcare services from the Volta and Oti Regions and neighboring countries. Dr. Dovlo expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama and the Government for supporting the Ho Teaching Hospital Expansion Project and appealed for the expedited operationalization of the Korea Exim Bank loan facility to commence construction work.
Dr. Dovlo called on various stakeholders, including traditional leaders, Members of Parliament, and the media, to support advocacy efforts for the timely implementation of the project, which promises to increase bed capacity, expand specialist services, and contribute to economic development. He appealed to journalists for responsible health reporting to educate the public and strengthen public confidence.
