Herbert Mensah Predicts Challenging World Cup for Black Stars

Kumasi: Veteran Ghanaian sports administrator, Herbert Mensah has expressed concerns over the Black Stars' prospects at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, predicting a difficult tournament for the team. He highlighted ongoing challenges, particularly administrative issues, that have historically hindered the team's progress, though he acknowledged the players' continuous efforts to excel. According to Ghana Web, Mensah shared his insights during an interview with LUV FM, emphasizing the tough competition the Black Stars will face in their group. He noted that despite historical administrative shortcomings, the players consistently strive to deliver exceptional performances. 'The Black Stars have seen this throughout history-poor administration-and yet the players themselves try their hardest to produce something special,' Mensah remarked to the Kumasi-based radio station. He further elaborated on the team's prospects, stating, 'I think this time it will be a little bit difficult for them. The balance of where they go in terms of the group means that anything is possible.' The Black Stars, now under the guidance of coach Carlos Queiroz, will contend with formidable opponents in Group L, namely England, Croatia, and Panama, as they aim for a spot in the knockout stages of the tournament held across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
