Accra:Akwatia Member of Parliament, Bernard Bediako, and Miracles Aboagye, the National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), engaged in a heated verbal confrontation during a broadcast of JoyNews' Newsfile programme on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
According to Ghana Web, the tension between the two escalated when they began accusing each other of corruption, with both questioning the integrity of the other. The Akwatia MP claimed that Miracles Aboagye had his assets confiscated by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) due to alleged corruption-related activities.
In response, Miracles Aboagye vehemently denied the allegations and retaliated by calling the MP an "empty lawyer" and a "thief," further alleging that the legislator was involved in a corruption-related incident with a pastor. The pastor had reportedly accused the MP of theft.
The altercation intensified as both parties exchanged harsh words and accusations. Miracles Aboagye challenged the MP, stating, "You are an empty lawyer and a thief; you cannot do anything to me. Let this be your first and last. When the pastor said you stole his money, did anyone arrest you? Don't ever try me again."
In defense, Bernard Bediako maintained that the money in question was not public funds, rebutting, "It is not public money."
