Sunyani: Mr Solomon Boateng, the Founder and Director of the Heart for Children Foundation, a charity organisation, says the foundation has drilled 130 mechanised boreholes in the Sunyani West Municipality, providing clean water to the community members.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Boateng declared that the foundation has integrated water into health initiatives and has been distributing 300 sanitary pads monthly to girls in deprived communities to promote personal hygiene and ensure girls remain in school during their menstruation periods. The foundation also operates an orphanage in the Nsoatre community.
Mr Boateng emphasized the foundation's commitment to impacting the Nsoatre community and the entire Sunyani West Municipality, focusing on social, educational, health, and employment opportunities for the youth. The foundation has constructed an intensive care unit and a standard pharmacy laboratory at the Nsoatre Hospital and has established several Community-based Health Planning Services (CHPS) compounds in disadvantaged areas.
In the education sector, the foundation is developing dormitories for boys and girls at the Nsoatre Technical and Vocational Institute (NTVI) and has built multiple classroom blocks. Furthermore, to address youth unemployment, the foundation has established a wood processing factory offering free employable skills training, currently enrolling 35 young people.
Mr Boateng highlighted the support provided to trainees, including free bicycles and meals, to aid in their training. The foundation, together with its foreign partners, is eager to engage more unemployed youth in skill training, urging them to take advantage of the opportunities for acquiring decent jobs.
