Kyebi: Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged the John Dramani Mahama-led government to complete and operationalise all stalled Agenda 111 hospitals, a project initiated by his administration. Speaking at the recent launch of the Kyebi Government Hospital's centenary celebrations, he acknowledged that not all the projects were completed during his tenure.
According to Ghana Web, Akufo-Addo emphasized the importance of ensuring access to quality healthcare. "Agenda 111 must be continued. Continuity, not disruption, is how health systems succeed. What was built must be maintained. What was started must be completed. What was learned must not be lost. That is how progress is ensured," he stated.
Akufo-Addo also paid tribute to health professionals who worked tirelessly during the COVID-19 pandemic. He highlighted the strength of the response, attributing it to the dedication of medical personnel. "The true strength of our response lay in our people. This one, like many others, stood firm in the midst of the storm, not because it was untouched, but it was because it was anchored on a strong human foundation," he said.
He further acknowledged the roles of doctors, nurses, technicians, and support staff who ensured that hope was not lost during the crisis. Akufo-Addo emphasized, "If there are lessons we must carry forward as a nation, it is this. Health is not partisan. Disease does not recognise political colours."
The Agenda 111 initiative, launched in 2021, seeks to improve access to healthcare in the country.
