Accra: Aduana Football Club CEO Collins Atta Poku has offered a strong endorsement of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, asserting that Addo has earned the right to lead Ghana to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to Ghana Web, Atta Poku spoke to Citi Sports, emphasizing that Addo's qualification of the team is the most significant metric that justifies his position. Atta Poku stated, "He earned a slot by qualifying us, so it's good that we are taking him," dismissing any doubts regarding Addo's suitability for the role.
The comments come after the Ghana Football Association decided to enhance Addo's technical bench with five experienced professionals, including French coach Alain Ravera and Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bj¶rkegren. These reinforcements aim to prepare Ghana for a challenging Group L campaign against England, Croatia, and Panama.
Atta Poku views the additional support as crucial for Addo to excel, stating, "If he needs backup to excel, let's provide all that he needs so that the Black Stars can go and excel at the Mundial in the United States of America." He also shared his interactions with some of the newly appointed staff, expressing optimism about their contributions.
Ghana is set to begin their World Cup journey against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, followed by matches against England in Boston on June 23 and Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.
For Atta Poku, the debate over Addo's legitimacy is settled. Addo qualified the team and earned his position, and now he must be supported to complete his mission.
