Tamale: Hajia Safia Mohammed, the Deputy National Women's Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made a substantial donation to support the construction of the party's Northern Regional Office in Zogbeli, Tamale. The donation includes 300 bags of cement and GHS30,000.00, aimed at facilitating the ongoing development of the party's first-ever ultra-modern regional office in the area.
According to Ghana News Agency, the contribution also featured 12 shovels, 12 headpans, 20 ablution cans, 20 cups, two bags of sugar, four cartons of milk, and two boxes of tea leaves. These items were handed over to party officials at the project's location by Hajia Safia Mohammed, who emphasized the importance of timely completion for a conducive environment for party administration.
Hajia Safia Mohammed, who aims to become the NPP National Women's Organiser in upcoming national executive elections, highlighted the donation as part of the Women's wing efforts to bolster infrastructure development and strengthen the party's foundation for future elections. Reflecting on the party's 2024 general election performance, she underscored the key role women played and affirmed the NPP's determination despite the results.
She stated, "We are well-focused, well-organised and well-structured. Immediately after the elections, I toured all the 16 regions to re-energise the base and encourage members not to relent." She expressed optimism about the party's future, emphasizing the importance of women in politics given their significant share of the population.
Hajia Safia Mohammed urged party members to maintain unity and commitment, stressing that internal cohesion is crucial for regaining parliamentary seats in the region. She elaborated on her support for the office project, including providing water to aid construction during Ramadan.
Alhaji Abdul Rahman Sualihu Mahama, the Northern Regional Second Vice Chairman of NPP, hailed the donation as the largest single contribution to the project so far, expressing gratitude and urging others to follow Hajia Safia Mohammed's example. Alhaji Soyibu Yussif, the Northern Regional Treasurer, also expressed thanks, noting that the donation would greatly advance the project's progress.
