Greater accra: The Assemblies of God Ghana (AG), Greater Accra East Region, has dedicated a multipurpose regional office complex as a beacon of faith, ministry, and spiritual transformation for generations.
According to Ghana News Agency, the edifice is named after the late Revered Simon B. Asore, who served as a Greater Accra East Region Superintendent from 1980 to 1986 and General Superintendent from 1986 to 2002. It features three conference rooms named after other past Greater Accra East Regional Superintendents, including Rev Emmanuel Komla Adri, Rev William Dontoh, and Rev George Ayaa Annan.
Reverend Stephen Wengam, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, delivered a sermon on the theme 'Faith of Our Fathers, Emulating Visionary Faith of Nehemiah'. He highlighted transformational leadership, emphasizing that effective church leadership should be rooted in prayer, discipline, honesty, and service to God rather than personal gain.
Rev Wengam stressed that Nehemiah united people around a common vision and inspired collective action for Jerusalem's restoration, noting that prayer, fasting, and spiritual discernment are essential for effective ministry and leadership. He urged pastors to avoid corruption and materialism and called on church leaders to embrace sacrificial leadership.
He commended Rev Awintia for fulfilling scriptures and demonstrating the faith of the fathers. The rebuilding of Jerusalem's walls in fifty-two days was cited as a testament to faith, determination, and God's favour.
Dr Agness Naa Momo Lartey, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, praised the new church edifice as a symbol of visionary leadership and resilience. She noted that the project's success showed the Lord's establishment of the house and encouraged perseverance in faith and service, referencing Galatians 6:9.
She expressed pride in the church's accomplishments and emphasized that the edifice would facilitate the spiritual growth of Christians in preparation for the second coming of Jesus Christ.
Reverend Andrews N. Awintia, Greater Accra Regional Superintendent of AG, expressed gratitude to all contributors to the project's success, highlighting the professionalism and dedication of the project implementation committee led by Dr Deacon Abraham Aguba.
Rev Awintia described the office complex as a major vision fulfilled during his tenure, completed without financial burdens on districts and local churches. He revealed efforts to strengthen the region administratively and spiritually, including clearing a legacy debt incurred from purchasing the Shai Hills Retreat Centre and investing over GHs3 million in missions to support church planting and growth.
