Paga: President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to complete 30 abandoned E-block school projects across the country as part of efforts to improve educational infrastructure and expand access to secondary education. Speaking at Paga in the Upper East Region during his ongoing engagements with citizens, President Mahama said the government had made provision in the 2026 Budget to complete the abandoned projects.
According to Ghana Web, President Mahama emphasized that leaving projects unfinished, especially those that have already consumed public funds, constituted a waste of taxpayers' money. "Any project into which government has sunk money already, if you don't finish it, it is a waste of the taxpayers' money," he stated. Highlighting Paga Senior High School, one of the E-block projects selected for completion, he noted that it had been transformed into a modern educational facility.
President Mahama explained that students at Paga Senior High School had previously been compelled to use only parts of the facility under challenging conditions. However, with the project's completion, students would now enjoy a conducive learning environment. "This school is one of them. We finished it. The children were using part of the facility in very, very terrible conditions. Today they have a very beautiful brand-new school which will improve their learning and outcome," he said.
Additionally, President Mahama directed the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to expedite the provision of furniture and other necessary equipment to ensure the school is fully operational. He emphasized that completing the 30 E-block projects is part of his government's broader commitment to ensuring that investments in education infrastructure are not left to deteriorate but are instead put to productive use.
