Suhum: The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has successfully rescued a man trapped inside a Kia Rio following a collision on the Accra-Kumasi Highway at Suhum Niifio. The incident occurred on August 16, 2026, involving a Ford and a Kia Rio.
According to Ghana Web, the incident was reported on the GNFS official Facebook page on August 18, 2026. The post detailed that the Suhum Municipal Fire Station promptly responded to the crash, with a six-member crew led by STNO II Darkwah Prince arriving at the scene by 8:03 p.m.
Upon arrival, the firefighters found a man trapped inside the Kia Rio. Using specialized extrication equipment, they were able to free the man and transport him to the Suhum Government Hospital for treatment. Preliminary investigations by the GNFS indicated that the accident occurred when a Ford F-150 attempted to overtake and collided with the rear of the Kia Rio.
The GNFS team also managed to salvage approximately GHS50,000, US$5,231.81, along with mobile phones, power banks, National ID cards, and other personal items from the accident site. Fortunately, no fatalities were recorded in the incident.
