Accra: The newly installed Nkosuohene (Development Chief) of Agona Kwanyako in the Central Region, Nana Asiedu Keteke I, has called on businesses and private organizations operating within communities to prioritize investment in local development as part of their corporate social responsibility. Speaking after his enstoolment, Nana Asiedu Keteke I, known in private life as the Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stressed that companies benefiting from communities must also contribute meaningfully to their growth and welfare.
According to Ghana Web, Nana Asiedu Keteke I noted that many organizations often overlook their social responsibilities despite profiting from local resources and labor. He emphasized that businesses that actively support their communities build stronger relationships and earn the trust and protection of residents. 'If you are an organization in a community and you are getting direct benefits from the community, then you also have to give back so the people can benefit from your organization,' he stated.
He further explained that by supporting community development, businesses can rely on the community's support in future challenges. 'That way, whenever anything happens in the future, the community will also stand up to protect and defend you,' he added.
The Nkosuohene also announced his plans to formalize his philanthropic activities through the establishment of the Keteke Memorial Foundation. 'Yesterday, I registered with the Keteke Memorial Foundation. Everything I have been doing has been from my own resources, but through this kingship, we are now officially opening the foundation to expand the initiatives already ongoing,' he explained. This move is part of broader efforts to drive socio-economic transformation in Agona Kwanyako through structured community development initiatives.
The colorful durbar attracted traditional leaders, residents, and several dignitaries, including former Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, whose arrival heightened excitement at the event. Addressing the gathering, the Chief of Staff commended the people of Agonaman for selecting a leader focused on development and community progress. NDC National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah also graced the occasion.
Residents and guests at the ceremony described the enstoolment as a significant step toward strengthening collaboration between traditional leadership, businesses, and government to accelerate development in the area.
