Accra: The Auditor General says an amount of GHS427,995,661.40 attributed to Mr. Frank Oliver Kpodo, a public servant, as unearned salary was an error.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Auditor-General's report on the Nationwide Payroll Audit for the period January 1, 2023, to June 30, 2025, and dated November 20, 2025, had indicated that Mr. Kpodo was answerable for the said amount in unearned salaries.
A statement from the Office of the Auditor General, signed by Mr. Frederick Lokko, Assistant Director of Audit/Information Officer, expressed sincere and unreserved apologies to Mr. Frank Oliver Kpodo for the distress and unwarranted public scrutiny the error may have caused.
The statement clarified that the amount attributed to Mr. Kpodo was due to a transpositional error. It further explained that the GHS427,995,661.40 related to the Ministry of Education in respect of 3,476 unaccounted staff during the audit.
