Accra: Justice of the Supreme Court, Emmanuel Yonny Kulendi, has highlighted the notable expansion of Ghana's legal profession, which has now reached a total of 12,200 lawyers since 1963. He praised the contributions of essential stakeholders in enhancing legal education, facilitating the entry of more practitioners into the field.
According to Ghana Web, Justice Kulendi shared these insights while speaking at the University of Ghana School of Law's Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series on July 30, 2026. He emphasized the historical growth of the legal sector, noting that in 2025 alone, 961 new lawyers were admitted as barristers and solicitors of the Supreme Court, contributing to the cumulative total.
Justice Kulendi pointed out that this achievement signifies substantial progress in the country's legal education system, offering increased opportunities for public service and fostering confidence in the legal profession. He remarked that this expansion reflects broader access to legal education and a growing pool of legal talent ready to serve the nation.
