Accra: Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has emphasized the importance of building on Ghana's restored macroeconomic stability to create a productive, competitive, and resilient economy for the next decade. Speaking at the Business Roundtable Extended 2026 Executive Dialogue in Accra, Ampem highlighted the need for the country to shift its focus from addressing past economic challenges to expanding production, attracting investment, and creating jobs.
According to Ghana Web, Ampem, representing the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, identified several key areas crucial for protecting the economy against future shocks. These include stronger economic buffers, increased productivity, effective institutions, inclusive growth, and a vibrant private sector. He stressed the importance of value addition, stronger local production, and closer integration of agriculture, industry, technology, and skills.
Ampem also called for a new partnership between the Government and businesses to secure Ghana's future. He noted that the Government would provide stability, infrastructure, efficient regulation, and fiscal discipline, while the private sector should contribute through investment, innovation, productivity, exports, and job creation. This collaboration, he stated, is essential for achieving a productive, competitive, and resilient Ghanaian economy.
