Accra: Mr Daniel Tetteh, Board Chairman of Appolonia City, is urging Ghanaians to rally behind President John Mahama's initiatives aimed at developing crucial infrastructure to spur Ghana's economic progress. He emphasized the visible presence of road building materials as a testament to the President's forward-thinking strategy and called for collective support to ensure a prosperous future for the nation.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Tetteh made these remarks during a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction and sealing of roughly 25 kilometers of roads within the Appolonia City estate. This project is intended to improve vehicular and pedestrian movement within the community. The initiative exemplifies infrastructure-led urban development, highlighting the impact of private-sector-led planning on transforming housing and economic landscapes.
The undertaking includes the construction of high-quality asphalt roads, complete with pedestrian walkways, cycling paths, kerbs, and stormwater drainage systems. It sets a precedent for meeting infrastructure needs in advance of demand to enhance mobility and living standards.
The Appolonia City project, initiated by Mr Tetteh, underscores a long-term vision for infrastructure-led growth. The 2,325-acre master-planned community aims to address the issues associated with unplanned urban sprawl in the Greater Accra Region. So far, over US$250 million has been allocated to essential infrastructure, such as a 75MVA primary substation and more than 50 kilometers of utility networks.
