Harlow: A 36-year-old Ghanaian woman living in the United Kingdom has been remanded into custody after appearing in court on a charge of murdering her eight-month-old daughter. Francisca Nti, of Milwards in Harlow, was arrested on Monday, July 27, 2026, two weeks after the death of her baby.
According to Ghana Web, Essex Police stated on July 29, 2026, that the eight-month-old child died on July 13, 2026. Following medical examinations, her death was deemed suspicious, leading to a police investigation. Police indicated that after investigations, specialist detectives charged Nti with murder. She first appeared before Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, July 29, where she was remanded into custody.
During a hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court on Thursday, July 30, the deceased child was identified as Nana Amoakoaa. She is expected to appear before Chelmsford Crown Court on October 1, 2026, for a pre-trial plea hearing.
