Ghana Water Ltd Inaugurates Board of G-Water Bottling Limited

Accra: Ghana Water Ltd (GWL) has inaugurated the Board of Directors of G-Water Bottling Limited, tasking members to transform the company into one of Ghana's most visible, trusted, and commercially successful bottled water brands. The inauguration forms part of efforts by GWL to diversify its revenue streams, strengthen business operations, and create sustainable value through strategic investments beyond its traditional mandate of potable water production and distribution.

According to Ghana News Agency, G-Water Bottling Limited is a subsidiary of Ghana Water Limited established to manufacture, package, and distribute safe, high-quality drinking water while operating on sound commercial principles. The members of the Board are: Mr. Agbesi Nutsu, Chairperson; Dr. Hadisu Alhasan, Executive Director; Mr. Sulemana Alhassan Alancash and Joseph Zefo Kero, Non-Executive Directors; and Madam Innocentia Kuupiel, Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Addressing the ceremony in Accra, Mr. Eric J. Biliguo, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ghana Water Ltd, said G-Water Bottling Limited represented an important pillar in the Company's long-term growth strategy. He noted that the bottled water brand had already earned widespread public goodwill because of its quality, purity, and taste but had yet to achieve its full commercial potential due to limited market availability. 'A great product that is unavailable to consumers cannot achieve its full commercial potential,' he said, stressing the need for stronger distribution networks and market presence.

Mr. Biliguo stated that the ambition of Ghana Water was not merely to participate in the bottled water market but to become a market leader in product quality, consumer preference, sales volumes, market share, customer satisfaction, and profitability. He called on the newly inaugurated Board to work closely with Management to expand the company's distribution channels, increase visibility across the country, explore export opportunities, and invest in product innovation. The Board Chairman also underscored the importance of public relations, branding, and marketing in achieving commercial success.

Mr. Adam Mutawakilu, Managing Director of GWL, said the establishment of G-Water Bottling Limited created an opportunity for the Company to leverage its expertise in water production and quality assurance to compete effectively within Ghana's bottled water industry. He said the company was expected to generate additional revenue, strengthen the Ghana Water brand, create jobs, and contribute to national economic development. According to him, the success of the company would depend on sound governance, effective collaboration between the Board and Management, and a clear strategic direction.

Mr. Agbesi Nutsu, Chairman of the Board of G-Water Bottling Limited, pledged the Board's commitment to providing strategic leadership and effective oversight to ensure the growth and sustainability of the company. He said the Board understood that the company had been established not merely as a commercial enterprise but as a strategic subsidiary of Ghana Water Limited with responsibility for manufacturing, packaging, and distributing safe, reliable, and high-quality drinking water. Mr. Nutsu said the Board would focus on operational efficiency, prudent financial management, value for money, risk management, and sustainable growth.

The Board members were charged to make G-Water one of the most visible, trusted, preferred, and highest-selling bottled water brands in Ghana within the next three years while delivering sustainable profitability and shareholder value.
