Accra: The Government of Ghana successfully raised GHS 20.48 billion from the domestic money market during April 2026 through a series of Treasury bill auctions. These auctions were conducted on five separate occasions throughout the month, specifically on April 2, 10, 17, 24, and 30. The auctions featured the 91-day, 182-day, and 364-day instruments, and investor participation was consistent and robust across all sessions.

According to Ghana News Agency, the first auction on April 2, 2026, saw the government borrowing GHS 2.95 billion as it accepted most of the bids. This was followed by a significant increase in borrowing on April 10, when the government raised GHS 5.11 billion. The auction on April 17 resulted in GHS 4.09 billion being raised, with a more even distribution of bids across the three tenors. On April 24, the auction saw a slightly reduced borrowing amount of GHS 3.90 billion. The final auction of the month, held on April 30, achieved GHS 4.43 billion in borrowing.

Cumulatively, these five auctions brought the total government borrowing for April to GHS 20.48 billion. Throughout the month, the 91-day Treasury bill was the predominant instrument, capturing the largest share of funds as investors showed a preference for short-term investments.
