Accra: Ghana's aviation sector has shown a robust recovery in 2025, with Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) reporting a total of 3.625 million travellers across both international and domestic routes. Managing Director of GACL, Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, revealed this data during the 5th AviationGhana Breakfast Meeting held in Accra.
According to Ghana Web, the 2025 figures represent a notable rise from the 3.4 million passengers recorded in 2024. Opare emphasized the upward trend in passenger numbers since the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting that Ghana has now exceeded pre-pandemic levels. This milestone is seen as a turning point for the country's aviation industry.
Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare stated that the current situation has prompted GACL to implement expansion projects to accommodate the growing number of passengers entering Ghana. She underscored the importance of these expansions in meeting future demand and ensuring that airport infrastructure aligns with the increasing influx of travellers.
Opare also mentioned that while health-related concerns are managed by the Ministry of Transport, GACL is concentrating on addressing the operational challenges brought about by the rising passenger volumes. With these expansion projects, GACL aims to position Ghana's airports to manage even larger traveller numbers in the future.
