Accra: Several Ghana Premier League clubs are making significant moves in the transfer market as they race to strengthen their squads ahead of the start of the 2026/27 season. Transfer updates as reported by sports journalist Shaban Mohammed on several deals already been completed, while a number of other transfers are at advanced stages, with Hearts of Oak, Debibi United, Swedru All Blacks, and Asante Kotoko among the clubs actively involved in the latest round of negotiations.
According to Ghana Web, newly promoted Debibi United have bolstered their squad with the signing of former Asante Kotoko forward Abdul Fatawu Safiu on a two-year contract. The club has also completed the permanent signing of former Heart of Lions and Hearts of Oak forward Kwadwo Obeng Jnr, as well as former Asante Kotoko, Karela United, and Hohoe United centre-back Maxwell Agyemang.
At Asante Kotoko, the Porcupine Warriors have secured the signing of former FC Samartex forward Emmanuel Mamah on a two-year deal, with an option for an additional year. The club has also included former AshantiGold and Vision FC forward Isaac Opoku Agyemang in their squad for the second phase of pre-season in Accra, with expectations to complete his move soon.
The club is further evaluating former Stade Malien centre-back Issah Yakubu, who is expected to join the team for pre-season training, while negotiations for Burkinab¨ defensive midfielder Abdoul Kader are progressing following an impressive trial. Goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim is also set to sign for the club, marking his return to Kotoko, although winger Daniel Yemoh's proposed move has fallen through after several days of training with the team.
Hearts of Oak are in ongoing negotiations with former FC Samartex right-back Samuel Tetteh Mensah, with talks advancing positively. The club is also competing with FC Samartex for the signature of Vision FC midfielder Meshack Adjetey Sowah, with both clubs eager to secure the midfielder's services. Hearts are closing in on PAC Academy centre-back Manuel Osei Djan, having already reached a club-to-club agreement, with final documents expected to be exchanged soon.
Former Swedru All Blacks midfielder Ebenezer Amoh has been training with Hearts, with negotiations advancing well and a deal expected shortly. The club has initiated talks with former Bechem United and Nations FC midfielder Amidou Diarra, while former Dreams FC goalkeeper Augustine Koomson has been seen at the club's training ground as negotiations are set to commence. Hearts are also interested in former Heart of Lions midfielder Mustapha Yakubu but face competition from his former club. Meanwhile, the Phobians are likely to part ways with Theophilus Collinson and Enoch Asubonteng, while centre-back David Oppong Afrane has already departed following the expiration of his contract.
Medeama SC has completed the signing of midfielder Emmanuel Anokye from Sporting Club Accra on a three-year contract. The Mauves have also announced the acquisition of Emmanuel Fobi from Georgian top-flight side FC Dila Gori, also on a three-year deal. Berekum Chelsea is making progress in their pursuit of former Young Apostles goalkeeper Zulka Massawudu, while free-agent midfielder Godfred Boakye, who recently left Aduana FC, is also on their radar.
Elsewhere, Heart of Lions has completed the signing of former King Faisal goalkeeper Edmund Wireko on a two-year contract after he successfully completed his medical. The club is also aiming to re-sign former midfielder Mustapha Yakubu, although Hearts of Oak remains interested in the player.
FC AshantiGold has secured the permanent signing of Unity FC forward William Addo, who topped the Access Bank Division One League as the leading scorer last season with 23 goals. Meanwhile, Aduana FC has announced the signing of prolific goalscorer Stephen Amankona on a permanent deal. Hohoe United winger Sena Ati has been training with Hearts of Oak as talks over a potential move continue.
