Accra: The Interim Management Committee of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBIMC) has announced plans to hold an Extraordinary Congress aimed at electing a substantive Executive Board for the Authority. Positions to be contested include President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Treasurer, and four Executive Board Members.
According to Ghana News Agency, a statement signed by Mr. Samir Captan, Chairman of the GBIMC, indicated that the Congress will be organized in alignment with Articles 4.6, 7.4, and 7.8 of the GBA Constitution as well as the GBIMC Election Roadmap. This significant event has been scheduled for 0900 hours on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The statement further revealed that, in the upcoming days, a three-member committee will be formally introduced. This committee, led by the Chairman, is tasked with overseeing the GBA Executive Board Elections. The GBIMC also stressed that only members and associations in good standing will have the right to vote in this election process.
Prospective candidates interested in contesting for the positions can begin to collect nomination forms starting Thursday, May 14, 2026. All completed forms and the lists of nominated delegates are required to be submitted to the GBIMC Secretariat by Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
