Accra: The Secretary-General of the Ghana Federation of Labour, Abraham Koomson, has strongly criticised former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, over his handling of the country's economy.
According to Ghana Web, Koomson, speaking on Ahotor FM on April 11, 2026, described Ofori-Atta's current situation as a consequence of his actions while in office. He suggested that it reflects the impact of his stewardship of the economy. Koomson argued that Ofori-Atta should return to Ghana to account for his tenure, emphasising that avoiding scrutiny could worsen public perception and affect his personal and family reputation.
Koomson further alleged that the former minister's management of the economy contributed to challenges that have affected the country, stating that it has also impacted the image of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He criticised the NPP, stating that the party lacks the moral authority to comment on governance issues due to its economic record while in power.
The labour leader urged the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to actively challenge the opposition and highlight its past performance in government.
