GFA to Appoint New Black Stars Coach Within Two Weeks – Kurt Okraku

Accra: The Ghana Football Association is set to appoint a new Black Stars head coach within the next one to two weeks, according to its president Kurt Okraku. Speaking after the dismissal of Otto Addo, Okraku indicated that the FA is moving quickly to secure a replacement as Ghana intensifies preparations for the 2026 World Cup.

According to Ghana Web, Okraku spoke to 3Sports, expressing urgency in the search for a successor by stating, "We will have a new coach in a week or two." This decision comes in the wake of disappointing results under Addo, including defeats to Austria and Germany, with his dismissal decided after a late-night meeting in Stuttgart.

The FA has begun evaluating both local and foreign candidates, aiming to stabilise the team ahead of crucial international fixtures. Several names have already been linked to the role. Ghana is scheduled to face Mexico and Wales in May, which leaves limited time for the new coach to assess the squad and implement strategies before the World Cup.

The Black Stars find themselves in a challenging group alongside Panama, Croatia, and England, making a timely and decisive coaching appointment essential for their World Cup campaign.
