Accra: The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UNESCO to launch a National Digital and AI Capacity Building Programme aimed at transforming technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Ghana.
According to Ghana Web, the signing ceremony took place on August 5, 2026, where Paul Adjei, the Administrator of GETFund, emphasized the organization's dedication to investing in educational infrastructure, human capital development, and innovative programmes. These investments are designed to expand access to quality education, ensuring that future graduates are not only technically competent but also digitally proficient to meet the demands of the fourth industrial revolution.
Adjei highlighted that this partnership is in line with the government's National Development Agenda, which envisions a responsive TVET system aligned with industry needs. By combining UNESCO's global expertise in education and data transformation with GETFund's financing capabilities, the initiative aims to support sustainable investments in green carbon ecosystems, AI education, instructor capacity building, and increased opportunities for Ghanaian learners.
He expressed gratitude to UNESCO for its trust in Ghana's transformative initiative, viewing the collaboration as a long-term partnership that will enhance institutional capacity, drive innovation, and promote digital inclusion. Adjei called the MoU a letter of intent marking the beginning of a lasting partnership that will benefit students, industries, and contribute to Ghana's economic and socio-economic development.
Adjei concluded by stating, "Together, we can build a formidable country where Ghanaians possess the baseline and AI skills required to innovate, compete globally, create jobs, and contribute meaningfully to sustainable national development."
