GCB Debunks Reports of Robbery at Labone Branch

Accra: Ghana Commercial Bank has debunked reports of an attempted robbery at its Labone Branch in Accra, assuring customers that no such incident occurred on its premises.

According to Ghana Web, in a statement issued on Thursday, August 13, 2026, the bank said it had taken note of reports about an alleged robbery attempt in the Labone area, which had been linked to the bank. GCB, however, clarified that neither its Labone Branch nor any part of its premises was targeted by robbers.

The statement from GCB emphasized, 'GCB Bank wishes to clarify that no robbery or attempted robbery took place at our Labone Branch or on the Bank's premises.' The bank further stated that the branch was never breached and that no customers, staff, funds, or property were affected in any way.

The clarification comes after reports emerged of a robbery attempt in the Labone area, with the Ghana Police Service saying it had foiled the operation and that two suspected robbers had been shot dead, while another was arrested. GCB assured its customers that the Labone Branch remains secure and encouraged them to continue using its services with confidence.

GCB also highlighted its commitment to the safety of its customers, employees, and facilities, adding that it maintains security measures across its network. The bank stated, 'We remain in contact with the relevant authorities and will continue to monitor developments regarding the incident.'
