Accra: One of Ghana’s fastest-growing domestic tourism brands, Into The Unknown Tours, is preparing to embark on an ambitious 10-day road expedition across the country in a bold effort to spotlight Ghana’s lesser-known destinations and inspire more Ghanaians to explore their own backyard.
According to Ghana Web, the expedition, dubbed Journey to the North, will take the team from Accra through the Volta Region before continuing into Northern Ghana. The tour will document landscapes, historic landmarks, local culture, cuisine, and the people who make each destination unique. The content-driven adventure aims to shift the narrative around domestic tourism by highlighting that some of Ghana’s most remarkable experiences exist far beyond the country’s most familiar tourist attractions.
CFAO Mobility Ghana and Malta Guinness have partnered with Into The Unknown Tours for its upcoming Journey to the North. The collaboration brings together two leading brands with a shared commitment to supporting adventure, exploration, and authentic Ghanaian storytelling through one of the country’s most ambitious domestic tourism content campaigns.
Leading the expedition is Derrick Boateng, CEO of Into The Unknown Tours, whose passion for discovering untold stories has helped build a growing community of adventure lovers across Ghana. Derrick emphasized the importance of domestic exploration, stating, “There are incredible places in Ghana that many of us have never seen. Our goal is to tell those stories, inspire travel, and remind Ghanaians that adventure doesn’t always require a passport.”
The 10-day expedition follows the overwhelming success of the brand’s previous content journey to Nzulezu, which generated millions of online impressions and sparked renewed interest in domestic tourism. This year’s expedition promises even bigger storytelling, taking audiences through towns including Ho, Hohoe, Jasikan, Kadjebi, Yendi, Savelugu, and Tamale, with daily content across social media showcasing the country’s diverse landscapes and cultures.
Beyond inspiring travel, the initiative also seeks to shine a spotlight on local businesses, hotels, restaurants, tourist attractions, and communities along the route, creating visibility and economic opportunities through digital storytelling. With domestic tourism becoming an increasingly important contributor to Ghana’s economy, initiatives like Journey to the North demonstrate how content creators can play a significant role in promoting national heritage while encouraging citizens to explore more of their country.
The expedition begins on August 14 and runs until August 23, with followers able to experience the journey in real time across Into The Unknown Tours’ social media platforms.
