Former Assemblyman An-ichie Lateef Banuosing Announces Bid for NDC Vice Chairmanship in Lambussie

Lambussie: Mr. An-ichie Lateef Banuosing, currently serving as a Circuit Supervisor for the Ghana Education Service in the Lambussie District, has officially declared his intention to run for the Vice Chairmanship of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming constituency executive elections.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Banuosing, who has a long-standing history with the NDC as a former Assemblyman for the Suke Electoral Area and a Co-opted Executive of the party, is aiming to address internal divisions within the party that emerged post-2024 general elections. By leveraging his experience, Mr. Banuosing plans to reorganise the party, strengthen its grassroots structures, mobilise resources, and ensure effective branch executive elections to prepare for the 2028 polls.

In his dialogue with the Ghana News Agency, Mr. Banuosing emphasized the importance of reorganising party branches to facilitate early voter engagement, maintain consistent membership drives, and implement effective issue-based campaigning. He highlighted the branches' role as a defense against misinformation and as primary contact points for new voters.

Mr. Banuosing has been a member of the NDC since 1996, contributing significantly to the party's victories in both presidential and parliamentary elections in the Lambussie constituency. He believes that addressing the party's internal cracks is essential for unifying factions and repositioning the party for future success. He expressed his commitment to creating an environment where party executives work collaboratively rather than in factions.

His campaign promises include instituting a structured welfare scheme for branch-level executives to retain loyal members and lobbying for employment opportunities to sustain the proposed fund. Mr. Banuosing envisions repositioning the party through strategic initiatives, enhancing internal structures, promoting unity, and expanding the electoral base.

He also stressed the importance of motivating branch-level members with a welfare scheme, as they form the base of the party. He pledged to mobilise resources and support for branch executives, aiming to make the party more attractive, increase voter support, and retain the parliamentary seat in the 2028 elections.

Mr. Banuosing called on delegates and party members to support his candidacy, reaffirming his dedication to advancing the NDC's interests in the Lambussie constituency. The NDC has outlined a roadmap for its 2026 reorganisation and internal elections to bolster the party's grassroots strength, as mandated by its constitution. This initiative seeks to renew mandates at various levels, deepen internal democracy, and consolidate unity for future governance.
