Tehran: Iranian authorities said on Thursday that the country's airspace was open, state media reported, the morning after flights were reported to have been stopped nationwide. Citing the civil aviation authority, state radio reported that normal flights had resumed, but that passengers should still call a central number to check whether their flights were set to take off.
According to Ghana News Agency, Iran did not officially confirm the closure of its airspace during the night. Concerns about a military escalation in the region have been growing since Wednesday, after US President Donald Trump repeatedly threatened Iran's leadership following the suppression of protests against the country's strict Islamic system of government.
It is unclear what options Trump is considering, or whether he is also prepared to take military action.
