Assin akropong: A devastating fire has gutted a 25-room house at Assin Akropong in the Assin Fosu Municipality of the Central Region, rendering a family and several tenants homeless. Mrs. Ama Aboagyewaa, a 54-year-old caretaker, reported that she was returning from Assin Fosu when she received a distress call informing her of the fire in her house.
According to Ghana News Agency, most of the occupants, except one, were away when the fire broke out. Although no casualties were recorded, the inferno destroyed virtually all belongings in the house, which included household appliances, mattresses, clothes, and other valuables running into thousands of Ghana Cedis.
Mrs. Aboagyewaa revealed that some community members were able to salvage the tenants before the fire consumed the building. The caretaker stated that personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded to the emergency, but their efforts were hampered by a shortage of water.
