Accra: FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, was unable to attend the World Cup third place match between England and France in Miami due to adverse weather conditions affecting travel in New York. 'Well, today I should actually be in Miami for the bronze medal match between England and France,' Infantino stated in a video on Saturday. The video was recorded at the stadium in East Rutherford, near New York, which is scheduled to host the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina on Sunday.
According to Ghana News Agency, Infantino was in New York for a media appearance alongside United States President Donald Trump on Friday. Inclement weather in the area led to the cancellation of several flights, disrupting travel plans. The adverse conditions not only affected Infantino's travel but also forced Spain to cancel their training session on Saturday.
Despite Infantino's absence, the third place match proceeded, with England securing a victory over France with a 6-4 score. The tournament will conclude on Sunday with the final match between Argentina and Spain, where both teams will vie for the championship title.
