Winneba: Dr. Clement Asemnyra, Founder of Dreams College of Creative Arts and Clemyra Tresor, emphasized the dedication of the University of Education, Winneba's Faculty of Health and Life Sciences and Health Economics Education (FHASHEE) to enhancing the quality of human life. The faculty's mission encompasses health promotion, nutrition, environmental sanitation, family development, clothing and textiles, sports and recreation, and integrated home economics.
According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Asemnyra shared these insights during the 2026 FHASHEE Educational Fair and Alumni Homecoming held in Winneba. The event, themed 'Building Together for a Sustainable Future: Strengthening the FHASHEE Legacy through Alumni Partnership,' aimed to showcase academic excellence, highlight innovation and practical skills, and mobilize support for constructing an ultra-modern faculty block. This proposed facility will feature modern lecture halls, textiles laboratories, smart classrooms, faculty offices, research hubs, curriculum development units, and micro-teaching laboratories.
Dr. Asemnyra highlighted the event as more than just a fair or homecoming, describing it as a return to the foundational values that many alumni have relied upon to build their dreams. Reflecting on his own student days, he recalled the influence of impactful lecturers, competitive classmates, and an academic environment that emphasized transforming lives through education.
He stressed the importance of individuals possessing knowledge, strong networks, and entrepreneurial skills to create jobs and opportunities in today's world. Dr. Asemnyra emphasized that the reputation of a university relies not only on the quality of education but also on alumni commitment to its growth. He urged alumni to support their alma mater beyond financial contributions by mentoring students, creating employment opportunities, facilitating industry collaboration, and sharing knowledge.
Prof. Frimpong Kaakyire Duku, chairing the event on behalf of Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual, Vice-Chancellor of UEW, highlighted the significance of the occasion in bringing together stakeholders to build the legacy of the faculty and university. He noted the exponential growth of the faculty's student population over the past decade, with insufficient lecture halls, faculty offices, and resource centers. This situation underscores the need for a new faculty block.
Prof. Duku called on alumni to renew their commitment to UEW by mobilizing resources to support the construction of the new faculty block, which will facilitate the training of future teachers. He emphasized that the university is not seeking charity but inviting investment in nurturing skilled and knowledgeable educators for the future.
