Kumasi: A Ghanaian family has been thrown into turmoil after a mother allegedly became romantically involved with her daughter's boyfriend. Speaking on Oyerepa FM on April 29, 2026, the woman's husband, Yaw Chales, recounted how their living arrangement had already been strained in their family house due to frequent clashes between his wife and members of his extended family. According to him, he eventually rented a separate apartment for his wife, known as Mercy, in an effort to restore peace.
According to Ghana Web, despite covering the rent, Yaw chose not to move in with Mercy, opting instead to remain in the family house while visiting occasionally. His wife lived in the rented apartment with their only child. He explained that his suspicions began when he encountered a young man staying in the apartment during one of his visits. "One day, I met a young man there, and when I asked questions, I was told he was my daughter's boyfriend. I asked why he was living with them, and I was told he had sustained a leg injury and was there to receive care," he narrated.
Although he initially accepted the explanation, Yaw said he gradually became uneasy after observing what he described as inappropriate interactions between his wife and the young man. His concerns were confirmed during an unexpected visit to the apartment. "One day, I visited my wife unannounced. I could hear some sounds in the room which made me suspicious. So, I started shouting my wife's name. The young man came out with a towel wrapped around his waist. He called my wife, only for her to come out partially without clothes. I confronted my wife, but she denied it," the man shared.
Following the incident, the husband said he informed their daughter about what he had witnessed. In a separate account, the daughter confirmed that she confronted her mother, who reportedly did not deny the allegations. "When my father told me, I did not believe it, but when I asked my mother, she told me I can't handle the man; that was why she snatched him from me," the daughter said.
