Accra: The family of Innocentia Atsufui Avinu, a University of Cape Coast (UCC) student found deceased at Hutchland Beach, has publicly denied allegations that her body parts were harvested.
According to Ghana Web, the family issued a statement on June 14, 2026, denouncing the rumors as misleading. They expressed frustration over the claims, describing them as false and fabricated, and urged the public to disregard such reports. The family also made a plea for respect, asking people to stop sharing images of Innocentia's body.
The family is urging the public, social media users, and student communities to stop spreading images of the deceased to preserve her dignity and prevent further trauma to the family. They emphasized the ongoing investigation by the Ghana Police Service, which aims to clarify the circumstances of Innocentia's death. The statement also conveyed gratitude for the support received from the University of Cape Coast, the student body, friends, and the public. Preliminary reports suggest Innocentia was last seen on June 10, 2026, at around 7:00 pm, residing in a private hostel at Amamoma.
