Weta: The Ewe Loyalty Foundation (ELF), a non-profit humanitarian organization in the Volta Region, has extended support to needy pupils by donating 22 school uniforms to students at the Weta Evangelical Presbyterian Basic School in the Ketu North Municipality. This initiative is part of the Foundation's ongoing efforts to enhance education, boost school attendance, and alleviate the financial responsibilities of parents.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Eric Shine Ekow Setor, the General Secretary of the Foundation, emphasized that the organization's vision is to foster compassion, unity, and empowerment within the Volta Region. The Foundation aims to provide vulnerable individuals with hope, dignity, equal opportunities, and support.
Mr. Setor further explained that the donation is part of the first phase of the Foundation's school uniform initiative, which is expected to conclude at Shime in the Anloga District. The second phase is scheduled to commence in September, targeting areas such as Hohoe, Ho, Weta Roman Catholic, and Kpando. He urged individuals, corporate bodies, and philanthropists to support the Foundation in expanding its humanitarian efforts across more communities in the Volta Region.
Mr. Enoch Amedegbe, the Assembly Member for the Weta Electoral Area, lauded the initiative and sent Mr. Emmanuel, the Unit Committee Chairman, as his representative at the ceremony. He praised the Foundation for its dedication to assisting vulnerable children and promoting education in the municipality.
Mr. Martin Kwawu, the Headteacher of the school, received the uniforms on behalf of the beneficiaries. He expressed gratitude to the Foundation, highlighting the donation's significant impact on improving the students' welfare. He encouraged other organizations and generous individuals to follow the Foundation's example and offer similar support to schools in need, thereby enhancing the quality of teaching and learning in the region.
Mr. Kwawu also emphasized that the donation would not only help the students remain in school but also instill a sense of belonging and confidence among them, thereby enhancing their learning abilities.
