Sunyani: Enterprise Group PLC, a leading provider of insurance, pensions, and real estate solutions, has inaugurated a newly constructed Reproductive and Child Health and Family Planning Unit at the Sunyani Municipal Hospital.
According to Ghana News Agency, the facility was built at a cost of GHS2.4 million as part of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility Programme to enhance healthcare delivery services. It includes offices for staff, standard washrooms, a waiting area, a child bathing space, and a cold room for vaccine storage, all equipped with the necessary medical equipment.
The facility is designed to improve maternal and child health services by enhancing family planning performance, immunisation, nutrition services, and child health promotion and monitoring.
Mr Mike Tyson, Chief Finance Officer of Enterprise Group PLC, emphasized during the inauguration ceremony that despite significant progress in maternal and child health, challenges such as overcrowding and inadequate equipment persist. He noted that the new facility, built after demolishing an old maternity block, will help meet the required standards and reflects the company's commitment to supporting communities and improving health outcomes.
Mr Tyson urged the hospital to maintain the facility for the benefit of current and future generations and encouraged health workers to handle the equipment with care.
Mr Kwadwo Nini Owusu, Managing Director of Enterprise Properties, highlighted that the facility adheres to Ghana Health Service protocols and standards, enhancing access to essential health services for mothers, infants, and young children.
Dr Richard Adinkrah-Kyeremeh, Sunyani Municipal Director of Health, acknowledged the hospital's long history and limited infrastructure expansion despite growing healthcare demands. He expressed gratitude for the new block, which he believes will significantly improve service delivery.
Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area, stressed the facility's timely contribution to the community and urged both the public and health workers to ensure its proper maintenance.
