Enterprise Group Commissions GHS2.4 Million Maternity Block in Sunyani

Sunyani: Ghana's leading financial services and insurance conglomerate, Enterprise Group and its subsidiaries, has commissioned a brand-new Reproductive Child Health and Family Planning Unit at the Sunyani Municipal Hospital in the Bono Region. The commissioning ceremony, held at the Sunyani Municipal Hospital, brought together traditional leaders, health officials, community members, and Enterprise Group representatives for what many described as a landmark moment in the Bono Region's healthcare journey.

According to Ghana Web, speaking at the commissioning on behalf of the Group's Board of Directors and Executive Management, Mr. Michael Tyson, Enterprise Group CFO, noted that far too many mothers across the country continue to face harrowing experiences in maternity facilities overwhelmed by overcrowded wards, aging infrastructure, and overstretched health workers. Explaining why Enterprise Group chose Sunyani, Mr. Tyson indicated that the impact should not be limited to where a company is most visible but should reach where the need is real and the opportunity to make a difference is meaningful.

The GHS2.4 million project involved the complete demolition and rebuilding of the original maternity structure, which Mr. Tyson noted had served its purpose but was no longer fit for modern healthcare delivery. The newly constructed block has been expanded and upgraded to include washrooms, a waiting area, a child bath, and a cold room, facilities designed to support both patients and the healthcare professionals who serve them.

As a conglomerate offering life insurance, pensions, health insurance, general insurance, and real estate solutions, Mr. Tyson stated that Enterprise Group exists to protect families and prepare them for life's uncertainties. 'Every mother deserves to give birth in safety and dignity. Every child deserves the best possible start to life. Our rallying call is 'Enterprise, Your Advantage.' Today, that advantage is reflected in this facility.'

Dr. Richard Adinkra-Kyeremeh, Municipal Director of Health Services at the Sunyani Municipal Hospital, expressed what the new facility means for healthcare delivery in the municipality. He praised Enterprise Group for heeding the call of a hospital that had long grappled with infrastructure constraints undermining the quality of care available to expectant mothers. 'This facility is more than new walls and a roof. It is a renewed promise to the women of this community that their lives matter, that their safety in childbirth matters, and that institutions are willing to put resources behind that promise. We are deeply grateful to Enterprise Group for choosing Sunyani and for building something that will outlast all of us in this room,' he said.

The Omanhene of the Sunyani Traditional Council, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, offered his blessing and the gratitude of the people of Sunyani to Enterprise Group. He noted that in Ghanaian tradition, a community's greatest treasure is its women and any investment in their wellbeing is an investment in the soul of the land itself. 'Enterprise Group has done what true partners do; they came not with empty words but with action. Our mothers will now bring forth life in a place worthy of them. The Sunyani Traditional Council blesses this and calls on our community to guard it as they would the land of their ancestors,' declared Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II.

The commissioning of the Unit at Sunyani Municipal Hospital forms part of Enterprise Group's broader Corporate Social Investment strategy, which focuses on healthcare as a priority area for community development across Ghana.
