Accra: The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, has underscored the significance of stringent testing and quality standards for energy meters in Ghana. Paying a working visit to the Ghana Standards Authority's (GSA's) Energy Meter Testing Laboratory, Dr Jinapor, along with the Executive Secretary of the Energy Commission, Adwoa Serwaa Bondzie, and officials from the Ministry, observed the detailed processes involved in testing energy meters to ensure their accuracy, safety, and reliability.
According to Ghana Web, Dr Jinapor expressed appreciation for the professionalism and precision exhibited by the technical team, describing it as 'impressive and reassuring.' He stressed that quality standards are foundational to establishing trust and fairness between utility companies and consumers. 'Accurate and reliable meters are essential to protecting consumers and ensuring that they are billed correctly for the electricity they use,' he stated.
Dr Jinapor also emphasized the necessity for robust collaboration between regulatory and technical institutions. 'Our collective efforts to uphold high standards safeguard consumers and strengthen confidence in our energy systems. It is only through coordination and diligence that we can maintain a reliable and trustworthy electricity supply for all Ghanaians,' he added.
