Takoradi: The Energy Commission has successfully certified 151 individuals for roles in industrial, commercial, domestic, and inspection activities within the energy sector. These newly certified personnel, drawn from the Western and Central Regions, were urged to prioritize safety to prevent fires and electrocutions and to uphold integrity and excellence in their services to the nation.
According to Ghana News Agency, the 24th Electrical Wiring Certification and Awards ceremony, held in Takoradi, was themed 'Training Today's Youth, Certifying Tomorrow's Electrical Experts'. Mr. Adolf Nii Larte, an engineer and the Manager of the Ghana Energy Commission, highlighted the importance of the annual examinations and certification in ensuring that professional electricians across the country adhere to regulatory requirements. Since 2013, the initiative has hosted 24 certification ceremonies and certified 18,000 professional electricians.
Mr. Larte also mentioned the introduction of modern systems, including digital registration platforms and mobile applications, to enhance accessibility and simplify the certification process. These innovations are designed to assist professionals in advancing their careers. He emphasized the need for more women in the energy sector to foster inclusiveness, noting a special program for female apprentices aimed at encouraging their participation.
Madam Patricia Amissah, the Operational Manager for the National Youth Employment Agency, advised the newly certified personnel to avoid using inferior and unapproved materials for clients. She stressed the importance of maintaining a positive attitude towards work to successfully progress in their careers, urging them to be disciplined.
Dr. Emmanuel Payne, an engineer at Takoradi Technical University and the chair of the ceremony, encouraged continuous learning to stay updated with current trends in the energy sector for efficient and effective service delivery. He advised the newly certified individuals to avoid unethical behaviors, emphasizing the importance of establishing themselves as credible professionals.
Mr. Amponsah Jesse, recognized as the Best Industrial Candidate, praised the Energy Commission for its initiative and motivated his peers to remain determined and overcome challenges in their pursuit of success.
