Accra: The Ellembelle Constituency Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bismark Nyameke Kojoe, has threatened to seek a court injunction against the upcoming Western Regional Executive elections if Kwasi Bonzoh is barred from contesting.
According to Ghana Web, Bismark Kojoe expressed his determination in a viral social media video, where he spoke in Twi, asserting his willingness to 'sacrifice his life' to halt the elections scheduled for August unless Kwasi Bonzoh's disqualification is overturned. Kwasi Bonzoh, the former District Chief Executive for Ellembelle, was disqualified as a candidate for the Western Regional Secretary position due to the party's academic criteria.
Bismark Kojoe accused party officials of deliberately disqualifying Bonzoh to ensure that Okatakyie Afrifa could run unopposed for the Regional Secretary role. He further alleged that since Afrifa assumed the position of Western Regional Secretary, he has not visited the Ellembelle Constituency, raising concerns about his commitment.
Kojoe emphasized Bonzoh's financial capability to support the party in securing parliamentary seats in the Western Region, stating that Bonzoh has been the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Ellembelle in four elections from 2012 to 2024, thereby deserving the chance to contest. Despite these assertions, the NPP National Appeal Committee had not cleared Bonzoh as of Saturday, July 26, 2026.
Representatives from the Western Regional NPP Secretariat and Okatakyie Afrifa have yet to issue a response to these allegations.
