Accra: Adombi Serwaa, the mother of Ghanaian actress and socialite Efia Odo, has opened up about the emotional turmoil she experienced due to her daughter's involvement in political matters. During a discussion on UTV's United Showbiz on May 3, 2026, she shared how unsettling reports and videos about Efia Odo affected her, even when she was abroad.
According to Ghana Web, Adombi Serwaa was so distressed by the situation that she felt compelled to intervene directly. She expressed her concerns to her daughter, urging her to refrain from political engagements for the sake of her safety. "I told Efia Odo I didn't want to lose her, so if she loves me, she shouldn't involve herself. I would allow her to do anything she wants but not politics," Adombi Serwaa stated.
The protective mother emphasized that no monetary gain or opportunity is worth compromising her peace or her daughter's well-being. "Money can't buy my life and my happiness. If there's peace in the money I'm being offered, I will take it, but if not, I don't want it. No money can buy the love I have for my daughter," she shared.
Adombi Serwaa also revealed that she received threats from individuals demanding that she dissuade her daughter from political activities. "A lot of people threatened me that if I didn't advise my daughter to stop her involvement in politics, something would happen to her," she said.
Despite her limited interaction with social media due to her busy schedule, the gravity of the situation became undeniable when she started receiving videos, prompting her to take action. "I don't usually follow the things going on social media because of my busy schedule. So when they started sending the videos to me, I decided to stand firm and talk to my daughter. The amazing part is when I spoke to her, she listened," she noted.
Reflecting on her experience, Adombi Serwaa expressed her hesitation about her children pursuing political careers. "I don't think I would ever allow any of my children to go into politics because of what I've seen. For now, I don't know, but if it's decent and there's peace, I might consider," she added.
