Ecobank Ghana’s Sunyani Branch Plants 300 Ornamental Trees at Serwaa Kesse Girls SHS

Sunyani: Ecobank Ghana's Sunyani branch has taken a significant step towards environmental restoration by planting 300 ornamental tree seedlings at the Serwaa Kesse Girls Senior High School located in the Duayaw-Nkwanta area of the Tano North Municipality, Ahafo Region. This initiative is part of the bank's annual tree planting exercise under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, carried out in collaboration with the Forest Services Division.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Mohammed Awudu from the Sunyani branch led the tree planting exercise, underscoring the bank's commitment to fostering a greener environment in senior high schools across the country. The event also aimed to educate students on the critical role of trees in achieving environmental sustainability. Mr. Awudu highlighted that such exercises are aligned with the bank's plans for the 2026 World Environment Day (WED) celebration.

The upcoming WED, observed on June 5, will focus on the theme: 'Inspired by Nature, For Climate, For Our Future,' reflecting the global commitment to environmental awareness and action. Mr. Awudu emphasized the importance of trees for human survival and encouraged students to take an active role in nurturing the newly planted trees. He advised them to see trees as vital to life and to take responsibility for planting and maintaining them within their communities.

Beyond the school initiative, Mr. Awudu shared that Ecobank Ghana is partnering with various institutions, including churches, schools, and hospitals, to embark on tree planting and environmental restoration projects. He also contributed to the school's development by donating five bags of cement for ongoing educational projects, urging the school management to ensure the proper growth of the trees.

Madam Margaret Anane-Agyei, the Headmistress of Serwaa Kesse Girls SHS, expressed her gratitude to Ecobank Ghana for their support and contribution to environmental sustainability through the tree planting initiative.
