ECG to Deploy Franchise Officers Nationwide to Enhance Service Delivery

Accra: The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced its plan to deploy franchise officers across all district operational areas nationwide, starting February 2026. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance operational efficiency and improve service delivery.

According to Ghana Web, the deployment of franchise officers will support ECG's field operations by performing tasks such as reading postpaid meters, checking the integrity of prepaid meters, distributing postpaid bills, and printing bills on-site using handheld devices. Franchise officers will also be responsible for disconnecting customers with overdue accounts and identifying and reporting illegal electricity-related activities.

Dr. Charles Nii Ayiku Ayiku, General Manager for External Relations at ECG, stated that this initiative aims to bring services closer to customers while improving accountability and revenue assurance. He explained that decentralizing these services ensures timely and efficient support for customers at their doorsteps.

Dr. Ayiku emphasized the importance of customer safety and transparency, encouraging the public to verify the identification of franchise officers. He assured that all officers would carry official ECG identification cards and signed authorization letters from their respective districts. Customers are advised to request these documents as proof of authenticity.

The initiative is also expected to help curb electricity theft and other illegal practices, contributing to improved service sustainability and system reliability. ECG has urged customers seeking further information to contact the ECG Call Centre or engage with the company through its official social media platforms.

The franchise deployment demonstrates ECG's commitment to delivering efficient, transparent, and customer-focused electricity services nationwide.
