Accra: The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a temporary load management exercise for the Volta and Oti Regions, following a technical fault on a transformer at the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) Asiekpe Bulk Supply Point (BSP).
According to Ghana News Agency, the statement issued by ECG and signed by Mrs. Eunice Tweneboah-Kodua, the Public Relations Officer, explains that the load management exercise is crucial for maintaining the stability of the electricity transmission system while engineers work on resolving the fault. The first phase of this operation will commence at 1800 hours on Sunday, August 2, and conclude at 0600 hours on Monday, August 3.
The areas anticipated to experience disruptions include Ho Technical University, SSNIT Flats, and surrounding locations such as Goshen City, GNTC, Police Headquarters, and Serene Hotel. Additional affected areas include the Ghana Water Limited office, Sokode Lokoe, and parts of Green Valley, among others.
The second phase of the load management will occur from 1800 hours on Monday, August 3, to 0600 hours on Tuesday, August 4. This phase will impact communities such as Kpenoe, Takla, and Hodzo, extending to regions like the Food and Distribution area, Ho Central Market, Akoefe, and surrounding areas.
Mrs. Tweneboah-Kodua assured customers that ECG engineers, in collaboration with GRIDCo, are diligently working to address the technical issue and restore normal electricity supply swiftly. She apologized for the inconvenience the temporary outages would cause and appealed to customers for their patience and understanding during the repair process.
